Hey, Blind Pigs!
It's time for the social event of the season! Please join us for the annual Christmas party on December 14 at the Milton Parker Estate in Bryan. The party begins at 6:00 and runs until 10:00. Before you RSVP, please read the details below. (Really. Please read. You wouldn't believe the number of questions we receive in text messages that are answered in event announcements.)
We'll play Whiskey White Elephant. If you want to play, please bring an unopened bottle of whiskey, wrapped as a gift. We'll draw numbers, open gifts, steal each other's bottles, etc. As you select a bottle for this game, choose something you'd be proud to share with friends. This is not the time for a gag gift.
Shockingly, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy a drink. Our parties are known for epic bottle share tables, so feel free to bring an open bottle or two (or six...Doug). Also, Everett will be mixing cocktails. These cocktails are provided by the club, but bring some cash to tip Everett. He's been hooking us up for months; it's time to return the favor.
Dinner will be served. The club will provide turkeys and hams, cooked by our own Keith Slaughter. Appetizers, sides, and desserts will be pot luck. You're not required to bring a dish; in fact, there aren't enough slots on the sign-up sheet for everyone to bring something. That would be far too much food. However, we've got a bunch of talented cooks in the club, and this is their chance to show off their skills. Sign up for the pot luck by clicking this sentence. Please list what you plan to bring when you sign up. This will help us avoid multiples of the same dish or obvious missing pieces.
Members attend the event free as part of their membership dues. Spouses and significant others are welcome to attend as plus-ones. Please don't bring a random friend, a buddy who's considering joining the club, or a Tinder date. This is kind of a family affair. The cost for plus-one tickets is $50, payable at the time of registration. These tickets help to cover the costs of the party; nobody turns a profit on this event.
The venue is a bed and breakfast, and they have several rooms available for the night of the party. If you don't want to concern yourself with your drive home, you can rent a gorgeous room in the estate for $259. Breakfast is, of course, included. Contact the Milton Parker Estate at (979) 779-7171 to make arrangements.
The party will not have a theme or a dress code, but lean a little toward the kind of outfit you'd wear to dinner at a good restaurant. It's not a coat-and-tie situation, but it's also not a shorts-and-flipflops event.
Thanks for reading all the way through the details, Pigs. See you soon!
