Hey, Blind Pigs!
We're starting summer STRONG. Fresh on the heels of the Hollywood party, BVBS is hosting a private distiller visit!
Please join us for a members-only whiskey experience with Distillarium, a craft distillery from Washington state! Although the distillery is all the way in the Pacific northwest, their CEO, Ken Miller, lives in Houston, and he has agreed to curate a night with Distillarium whiskeys for our members.
Distillarium makes a bourbon, a rye, and a triticale whiskey. (That's pronounced "trit-uh-KAY-lee." I had to look it up.) Triticale is a crossbreed of wheat and rye. Each mash bill is available as a straight whiskey, a cask-strength whiskey, or a single barrel. Distillarium is one of only a very small handful of distillers producing triticale whiskey. I have tasted it, and it's very good. The brand also produces a VSOP American brandy for general distribution, and their spiced pear moonshine, rhubarb vodka, and eau de vie are tasting room exclusives.
Everett has graciously allowed us to host this whiskey experience in the side room at Rough Draught where we normally have our monthly meetings. I believe we'll have the space almost entirely to ourselves, since the Aggies will mostly have gone home for the summer, and the soccer fans for Saturday's game won't likely be in town yet.
Although this is a free, members-only event, I think it's a fine idea to buy a drink from the bar at some point in the evening to thank them for letting us use their space. Also, please bring a tasting glass, or maybe more than one, if you prefer to taste samples side-by-side.
I hope to see you there!
